Visit Wichita is hiring a dynamic person to serve as our Director of Partnership Development. This position is responsible for new partner recruitment, as well as engagement and retention of current partners. The ideal candidate loves building relationships and loves talking about all the wonderful things there are to see and do in Wichita.  You are self-motivated and enjoy being active in the community. You have excellent customer service skills and keen ability to close the sale as well as a positive attitude.  You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are a team player.  Components of the job include new partner sales, partnership programs/ activities, partnership retention and administration.

Director of Partnership Development duties include but not limited to:

  • Recruitment of new partners to the organization by identifying individuals, companies or industry sectors that are not partners; cultivating relationships; and converting those prospects into dues-paying partners
  • Promptly respond to partnership inquiries. Provide partnership information, send appropriate follow up communication, and close sale
  • Process new partner applications with assistance from Partnership Services Manager
  • Oversee welcome package for new partners, ensuring partners understand all opportunities
  • Maintain a prospective partner database (within the CRM database)
  • Report weekly to President on sales calls, leads and status as related to annual revenue goals
  • Manage retention efforts of existing partners by ensuring that current partners have opportunities for engagement, are communicated with on a regular basis, and are receiving value
  • Identify and implement new programs and services that will be beneficial to partners
  • Attend industry events to develop relationships with prospective and current partners, as well as industry colleagues
  • In collaboration with marketing, offer quarterly educational classes on marketing strategies, analytics, and social to all partners, also coordinate partnership promotional videos
  • Assist in the creation and update of partnership marketing material e.g., letters, new partner welcome packets, newsletter materials, partner maps & other marketing collateral
  • With marketing team, provide services, collateral, destination training and executive tours in key corporations and target industries outside the Visit Wichita partnership to continue to grow travel & trade advocates among influential voices in the Wichita area
  • Oversee Partnership Services Manager
  • Coordinate and execute Wicked Brew Tour, Wichita Attraction Tour & Explore Wichita events
  • Prepare board reports and partnership reports as needed

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and a minimum of four years of experience in hospitality, customer service, sales, or membership sales
  • Knowledge of content management systems, Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and CRM
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally with all levels of employees, clients, and potential clients
  • Requires strong common sense, ability to handle standard situations and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must be a team player
  • Willingness to complete additional duties and take on additional responsibility as the need arises
  • Prior Convention and Visitors Bureau and/or other travel and tourism experience a plus
