The Digital Content Specialist will be primarily responsible for the Visit Wichita website, ensuring a best-in-class website that is highly intuitive and serves as the main digital fulfillment to entice visitors into the planning stages of future travel to Wichita.  The Digital Content Specialist will also be responsible for developing and improving our inbound marketing strategies; creating high quality, shareable content; delivering engaging emails; updating social media platforms; managing social media advertising; and optimizing search engine promotions.

Digital Content Specialist duties include but not limited to:

  • Create, update, and manage pages in Visit Wichita’s Content Management System (CMS) ensuring website content is rich and robust and content is continually changing
  • Optimize site for SEO, ensuring well-performing meta data
  • Develop an annual web content strategy
  • Regularly review the website to ensure images, videos, copy, etc. are working properly and are optimized and performing well from a SEO standpoint
  • Proactively review site for outdated content and site errors
  • Provide regular website data analysis to ensure peak performance and optimized strategy
  • Update online events calendar
  • Utilize Act-on email system to create strategic email marketing campaigns
  • Write blog content for the website that supports SEO strategy that include engaging photos and/or video
  • Create social media content for various platforms
  • Create needed graphics to build a brand across all social media using Adobe Creative Suite
  • A strong awareness of the social and digital media landscape, new technologies and products and how the content landscape is changing
  • Manage search engine optimization (SEO), paid search (PPC), and social media advertising

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of website/integrated marketing/communications preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Comfort with web, digital and social media
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Design-focus with a good eye for compelling digital and print design
  • Must feel comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Knowledge of Google Adwords, Facebook Ad Manager, and LinkedIn Ad Manager preferred
  • Experience executing paid social media campaigns
  • Experience in graphic design and photography a plus
  • Experience in video production and editing using design programs such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, In Design and After Effects a plus
  • Strong skills in creating original content that targets a specific audience and meets company objectives
  • Knowledge of content management systems
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information
  • Able to work special events as assigned
  • Prior Convention and Visitors Bureau and/or other travel and tourism experience a plus
