The website manager will be primarily responsible for the Visit Wichita website, ensuring a best-in-class website that is highly intuitive.  The website manager will also play a strong role in external efforts that drive traffic to the website, digital marketing efforts, social media efforts, and third-party referral sites.

Manage all aspects of website including but not limited to:

  • Create, update, and manage pages in Visit Wichita’s Content Management System (CMS) ensuring website content is rich and robust and content is continually changing
  • Optimize site for SEO, ensuring well-performing meta data
  • Carry out branding and content plans consistently throughout the website
  • Manage website sitemap
  • Know key audiences of leisure traveler as well as meeting planners, appropriately creating and recommending content for all areas of the website
  • Regularly review the website to ensure images, videos, copy, etc. are working properly and are optimized and performing well from a SEO standpoint
  • Proactively review site for outdated content and site errors
  • Maintain expertise with Visit Wichita’s Content Management System (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) to ensure accurate and timely updates to all content, partner listings and offers displayed on the website
  • Observe user behavior on website and use data to optimize for the best experience
  • Provide regular data analysis to ensure peak performance and optimized strategy
  • Serve as the main point of contact with website host, vendor for website monetization, referral sites
  • Update events calendar
  • Utilize Act-on email system to continue email communication strategy, including newsletters (partner, meeting planners, consumer, sports) and similar communications

Direct Website Strategy:

  • Benchmark other websites to ensure Visit Wichita is delivering a best-in-class website experience
  • Ensure search performance by optimizing all aspects of the site
  • Drive strong SEO results, make recommendations on layout, keywords, trending topics, search terms requiring bolstered content, making adjustments proactively for best performance
  • Follow forums regarding Google best practices, trends and performance metrics
  • Seek out trends and present ideas to senior management then ultimately take the lead in incorporating new elements into the website
  • Partner with website host and serve as internal lead for website projects 

Manage Email Marketing Efforts:

  • Utilize email system to distribute electronic communication such as partner newsletters, meeting planner newsletters, consumer emails and similar publications
  • Consult on design and strategy of email template and distribution
  • Manage contact lists for subscribed active users
  • Provide reports and analysis of website and email marketing performance:
  • Gather and report performance metrics to senior management providing analysis focusing on trends, industry standards and performance versus goal and prior year
  • Make recommendations for improved website performance
  • Partner with outside research agencies to evaluate website usability and implement findings
  • Provide website insight to assist with digital marketing efforts:
  • Collaborate with marketing and outside media agencies providing recommendations on landing page URLs/UTM codes
  • Participate in strategic discussions regarding digital advertising and marketing campaigns to provide insights into website analytics
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of website/integrated marketing/communications preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a position directly managing websites 
  • Self-starter with the ability to finish projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficient with CMS systems, Photoshop and ability to keep web up to date daily; proficient in both PC and MAC environments; familiar with cloud computing environments
  • Fundamental knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Proficient in email distribution platforms such as Act-on
  • Proficient in Google analytics, SEO performance and enhancing performance based on changes in algorithms 
  • Experience in collaborating with internal and external partners
  • Experience in leading projects and leading cross functional teams/meetings
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for benchmarking and learning to gain insights and ultimately implement findings to ensure website is best in class
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and maintain professionalism 
  • Able to work special events as assigned
  • Prior Convention and Visitors Bureau and/or other travel and tourism experience a plus
