COLEMAN COLLECTORS LIGHTING UP WICHITA
(Wichita, Kan.) Collectors of Coleman Co. products produced between 1900 and 1960 are holding their international convention in Wichita June 12-14, 2008. The International Coleman Collectors Club expects 200 attendees who will display samples of their collections at the Central Community Church Activity Center, 6100 W. Maple St. The convention is open to the public June 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with an auction scheduled for 3 p.m.
Members of the media are invited to the convention Friday, June 13, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. to interview participants and shoot video or photographs of the convention.
International Coleman Collectors Club members collect Coleman lanterns, lamps, irons, stoves, hollow wire fixtures as well as camping products that the Wichita-based company has produced since the start of the 20th Century. The club is not affiliated with the Coleman Co.
The convention will include a "Light Up" of lanterns during an evening banquet June 13 at Eberly Farms, 13111 W. 21st. North. A fire truck will be used as a platform for taking a photo of hundreds of lanterns arranged to create the silhouette of a giant Coleman lantern.
