“We are excited to bring this national event to Wichita,” said Brian Hargrove, executive director of sports development at Visit Wichita. “The event brings in competitors from all over the country, boosting local economic impact, is broadcast live on ESPN3 and is also a great opportunity for local and regional wrestling fans to enjoy two days of top-notch wrestling right here in the Wichita area.”
The NAIA Men’s Wrestling National Championship comprises upwards of 250 student-athletes that compete in a 32-man, double elimination championship bracket at 10 weight classes. Each year, more than 5,000 fans are in attendance to see the two-day event, which culminates in the national championship in each weight class covered live on ESPN3.
The event begins with eight mats and breaks down to one on championship night on Saturday evening, which is broadcast live on ESPN3. Visit Wichita also secured the 2021 championships, which will be held March 5-6, 2021.
Media outlets seeking access to cover this event will need to register here at least 72 hours in advance of the event.
