This summer, the Wichita Figure Skating Club in conjunction with Visit Wichita, will host the U.S. Figure Skating’s National Theatre on Ice competition. Originally scheduled for 2020, the event will now be held June 22-25, 2022, at INTRUST Bank Arena.

Single session and all-session tickets are now on sale through Select-A-Seat.

This is Wichita’s first time hosting the event; they have previously hosted the 2018 and 2020 Midwestern and Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships, which brought thousands of skaters, their friends and family and other visitors to Wichita – to the tune of approximately $6 million in positive local economic impact.

“Skaters and their families were so impressed by our facilities when we hosted the sectional championships in Wichita in 2018 and 2020,” said Josh Howell, vice president of sports development at Visit Wichita. “We were honored to partner with the Wichita Figure Skating Club to host U.S. Figure Skating and are thrilled to now welcome their Theatre on Ice competition in Wichita. We will not only be able to showcase our city once again but those in Wichita can benefit from seeing the competition live which is so unique to the Midwest.”

Theatre on Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Teams consist of between eight and 24 skaters. The programs are judged by U.S. Figure Skating judges and are evaluated on technical merit and presentation with emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality.
