Visit Wichita has partnered with Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas to host a career fair for the tourism and hospitality industry. The job fair will take place in person from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, at the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview.

Twenty businesses looking for employees, ranging from American Airlines and INTRUST Bank Arena to Cabela’s and Tanganyika Wildlife Park, are signed up to participate. Job seekers are encouraged to attend and meet with these potential employers.

“We’re excited to partner with the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas for the first time to host a career fair specific to the tourism and hospitality industry,” said Susie Santo, president and CEO at Visit Wichita. “Our industry has been affected by the pandemic and this is a great opportunity for both employers and job-seekers in the industry to connect.”

The two organizations are striving to be a bridge between job seekers and employers at a particularly important time for our workforce and our regional economy.

“This is a unique job fair with a focus on connecting hospitality talent and skilled workers to employers,” said Keith Lawing, president and CEO of Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas. “We are pleased to partner with Visit Wichita, the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview and attending employers to help unite employers seeking talented job seekers. We encourage candidates at all levels, from customer contact to management level experience, to attend and meet with the 20 businesses in the hospitality industry looking for skilled applicants.”

There is no cost for job seekers to attend, but workers must register for the job fair. It can be completed in advance, online with Eventbrite, or at the door at the event. Candidates should bring their current resume and be willing to visit with employers on the spot.

Depending on the level of interest from both employers and candidates, Visit Wichita and Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas are anticipating hosting additional career fairs in the coming months at different locations throughout the city.

Masks are recommended and social distancing measures will be in place at the job fair. For more information and updates, connect with fair’s Facebook event.
