Women's bowling championships returning to Wichita
(Wichita, Kan.) - Once again, Wichita will become the center of the nation's bowling world. Today, the United States Bowling Congress awarded the 100th Women's Championships to Wichita.
The USBC Women's Championships will take place from April to June 2019 and bring more than 30,000 bowlers to Wichita. The tournament will generate an estimated $14 million in economic impact for Wichita and south-central Kansas.

This is a partnership of the city of Wichita, Go Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission and the Great Plains USBC Association. The Wichita delegation traveled to Arlington, Texas, to present the bid.
"Our bid focused on our central location, our great bowling community and Wichita's wonderful hospitality," said Mayor Carl Brewer. "We've already heard from several bowlers who were here in 2004 who can't wait to come back to Wichita."
The competition will take place at Northrock Lanes and Thunderbird Bowl, which were the same bowling centers used when Wichita hosted the 2004 Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC) Championships.
"These bowlers will stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants, shop in our stores and visit our attractions," said Susie Berglund Santo, Go Wichita president and CEO. "This is a real economic boost for our community and we are delighted that Wichita was chosen as the host city for this prestigious event."
"Wichita has a fantastic bowling community, and our local bowlers look forward to renewing acquaintances and making new friends during the course of the tournament," said Marci Williams, director and past-president Great Plains USBC Association.
"I believe that our success in hosting previous USBC events proves that the 2019 Women's Championships will be a great experience for the visiting bowlers," said Bob Hanson, Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission president and CEO.
