As Wichita reopens, hotels in the city are carefully opening taking necessary precautions to ensure your stay with them, when you are ready, is comfortable and worry-free. You’ll find staff is taking a number of extra precautions such as extra sanitization, wearing face masks and gloves, double-washing linens and opening front doors for guests.

Spread Out Dining Area at the Drury Broadview

Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview
The Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview has increased cleaning and sanitation efforts and social distancing is practiced throughout the property. Staff is wearing PPE and masks at all times, and plexiglas shields have been installed at the front desk. Disposable items are used for food and beverage. Frequently touched (and not typically removed) items in guest rooms like coffee pods, pens and marketing collateral have been removed and may be requested at the front desk. The pool, spas and fitness center are currently closed. Occupied rooms are not being serviced and housekeeping is waiting 24 hours before entering vacated rooms. The Drury is currently serving grab and go breakfast from the front desk. The pool and fitness center are currently closed.

Hilton Properties
Hilton Garden Inn (Downtown and East), Hampton Inn & Suites (AirportEast, Northwest), DoubleTree, Homewood Suites, Tru, and Home2 Suites, will be implementing a new program called Hilton CleanStay with Lysol Protection that includes a Hilton CleanStay Room Seal to indicate that rooms haven’t been accessed since disinfected, extra disinfection of high-touch areas in rooms (like light switches and door handles), increased cleaning frequency of public areas, disinfecting wipes at entrances and high traffic areas for guest use, enhanced cleaning in fitness centers, reduced amenities (like pads and directories) in rooms, enhanced cleaning and other changes to buffets, and enhanced team member safety and well-being with personal protective equipment and enhanced training and protocols.

  • The DoubleTree is placing Xs on the floor to help with social distancing. The restaurant isn't open yet, but will be serving plated meals only with wait staff in gloves and masks.

  • The Hampton Inn & Suites Northeast is still temporarily closed.

IHG Properties
Candlewood Suites (AirportEast, Northeast), Holiday Inn (Express & Suites Airport, East, Express South, Express & Suites Northeast), and Staybridge Suites have expanded their Way of Clean program (from 2015) to include additional protocols and practices for COVID-19. 

  • Reception - Reduced contact at check-in, touch-less transactions, front desk screens, sanitizer stations, sanitized key-cards, paperless check-out.

  • Public Spaces and Facilities - Additional deep cleaning of high-touch surfaces, social distancing, ‘last cleaned’ charts, best practices for pools, fitness centers and lounges.

  • Guest Room - Visible verification of sanitized items (e.g. glassware, remote control), reduction of in-room furnishings/high-touch items, new laundry protocols, use of electrostatic technology.

  • Food & Beverage - New standards and service approach to buffets, banquets, room-service and catering.

  • Holiday Inn East - The restaurant is available for dine-in with limited hours, but highly recommend getting orders to-go, especially for hotel guests. The pool is closed, and fitness center is one guest at a time through a schedule at the front desk. After each guest, front desk or housekeeping will go in and clean. Housekeeping is wearing masks and gloves.

  • Staybridge Suites Wichita - In addition to heightened cleaning and sanitation, the hotel is letting rooms sit for 72 hours after check-out before housekeeping comes in to clean. The lobby is closed, but they have a grab and go breakfast and evening social. Hand sanitizer is available at the front desk and entry is limited to the front doors so they can be cleaned and sanitized at all times.

Marriott Properties
Courtyard Wichita (Old Town and East), Ambassador Hotel Wichita - Autograph Collection, Fairfield Inn and Suites (Downtown and East), Springhill Suites (Airport), Aloft Wichita, Wichita Marriott, TownePlace Suites, and Residence Inn, have put in place a multi-pronged approach designed to meet the health and safety challenges presented by COVID-19. Their Commitment to Cleanliness includes:

  • When guests check-in, they will notice a number of additions to their cleaning regimen designed to set an even higher standard of cleanliness for the hotels, as well as modifications to associate-guest protocols developed to be consistent with recommended social distancing guidelines.

  • Plans have been initiated to roll-out enhanced technologies over the next few months, including electrostatic sprayers and the highest classification of disinfectants recommended by the CDC and WHO to sanitize surfaces throughout hotels.

  • Consisting of in-house and outside experts in food and water safety, hygiene and infection prevention, and hotel operations, the council will work to develop a new generation of global hospitality cleanliness standards, norms and behaviors for their properties.

  • In addition to increased cleaning and sanitation efforts and social distancing, the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Wichita Downtown has halted its shuttle service and closed the pool. Grab and Go breakfast is available.

  • The Springhill Suites at the Plazzio is still temporarily closed. 

Best Western Properties
At the Best Western Wichita North, all front level staff members are wearing gloves and daily health checks take place on site. Glass partitions are installed at the Front Desk. The hotel’s restaurant, Country Kitchen, is following all KRHA recommendations. The Best Western Wichita Northeast have grab and go or single serve breakfast available with wrapped fruits and pastries. Staff are all wearing face masks and sanitizer has been placed throughout the hotel.

Inn at Tallgrass
The Inn at Tallgrass is open with limited office hours. Housekeeping has set schedules for each room, and staff are wearing masks and gloves and are implementing more thorough cleaning practices. Breakfast and the pool are currently unavailable.
