A little about you…
As our VP Sales, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a dynamic team of sales managers and build relationships with a wide variety of people – from our team, to local organizations, to regional and national meeting planners. You will provide strategic leadership to the sales and service team and help create and identify unique opportunities to aggressively sell Wichita as a meeting destination. You’ll love pulling up your sleeves and creatively looking for ways to improve our service to meeting planners and to attract more meetings/events to Wichita.
You’ll work closely with the marketing and research departments and other local partners. You are detail-orientated and enjoy tracking budgets, expenses, leads and using data to enhance your team’s performance. You’ll inspire a team to exceed goals and you enjoy the process of collaborating to assist in building the sales pipeline and cultivating leads.

The VP Sales oversees the Convention Sales Managers, Sales Coordinator, Services Manager and is responsible for the development and direction of the sales and services department and its initiatives. Provides strategic leadership to the sales and services team in order to achieve goals and objectives. Aggressive selling of Wichita as a meeting and event destination through direct contact with association, specialty, sports and corporate meeting planners. Creates service initiatives to drive repeat convention bookings. Excellent sales management skills; able to develop a strong team. Strong sales abilities include persuasiveness and closure skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary, with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely. Goal-orientated, self-starter who is comfortable managing several projects simultaneously. Capable of exercising initiative, judgment, tact and diplomacy in a wide variety of public contact situations. Ability to work cooperatively within a small office environment. Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum five years related industry experience. Hospitality industry experience helpful.
