    Art Gallery SceneFirst Friday Art Crawl

    Art galleries and art museums open their doors to the community offering the best art in Wichita for free on the first Friday of every month. Ride the Q-Line around downtown Wichita during the First Friday Art Crawl and visit nearly 30 gallery showcases, many of which offer free hors d'oeuvres and drinks. Several galleries incorporate artist demonstrations or live music. 

    Keeper of the Plains Twilight Plaza and BridgeKeeper of the Plains Plaza

    The Keeper of the Plains is a 44-foot tall steel sculpture standing at the point where the Big and Little Arkansas rivers join together in downtown Wichita. This land between the two rivers is sacred ground to the Native American people and is also home to the All-American Indian Center. A complete renovation of the sculpture and installation of the Keeper of the Plains Plaza now brings people out each evening to see the Keeper and the "Ring of Fire" which can be viewed nightly at 9 PM for 15 minutes.

    International opera season includes four fully staged operas with stars from around the globe at the Wichita Grand Opera. In May 2016, for just the second time, Bradley Fair will be re-transformed into Wichita’s premiere amphitheater. Opera on the Lake 2016, at Bradley Fair, will be a fully-staged production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. The island, the floating stage, and even the lake itself will become a setting like nowhere else in the nation.
