A Tribute to Samella Lewis

Tue-Fri: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Sat: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM , February 4, 2023 | The Kansas African American Museum

The exhibition pays tribute to the late Dr. Samella Lewis, a major benefactor and supporter of The Kansas African American Museum (TKAAM). Beginning in 1998, and continuing through 2006, Dr. Lewis gifted TKAAM a portion of her private collection of paintings and sculptures by leading African American artists, as well as a large collection of her own work. In 1998, these gifts formed the foundation of the permanent art collection of The Kansas African American Museum (formerly the First National Black Historical Society).
