Art on a Monday: New Public Art at the City of Wichita Park and Recreation Pools

11:30 AM, November 8, 2021 | Wichita Art Museum

Connie Ernatt and Kent Thomas Williams: New Public Art in the City of Wichita Park & Recreation Pools will be available, Nov. 8.

When was the last time you visited one of the City’s pools? In spring and summer, they were transformed and amazingly enhanced. An army of artists created extraordinary art for these important public spaces in Wichita. Artists Connie Ernatt and Kent Thomas Williams led the team and coordinated these commissioned and site-specific artworks. Art now adds spark to pools in Aley Park, Harvest Park, McAfee Pool at McAdams Park, Minisa Park, and Orchard Park. Come hear the artists share the story of this great new chapter in our city. Come see their illustrations of crazy-great art that now adds so much to the built environment in Wichita.

Artists involved in this large and even historic undertaking include Sarah Alsaied, Arts Partners, Stephen Atwood, Nina Baughman, Chuck Bonner, Eric Carroll, Terry Corbett, Karen Cox, Marc Durfee, John Ernatt, Sam Forner, Brady Hatter, David Iles, Rollin Karg, Amanda Mayflower, Charles McAfee, Mike Miller, Armando Minjarez, Chris Neumann, Cecil Papillion, Quintis Pinkston, Kat Smalls, Gary Staab, Tina Slater-Thomas and her students at Wichita North High School, and Grant Stuart. And, naturally, we must applaud the ringleaders, artists Connie Ernatt and Kent Thomas Williams.

RSVP deadline is Friday, October 29, 2021. Capacity limited to 150, and advance tickets are required. Tickets are $35 per person and may be purchased online at wichitaartmuseum.org/artonamonday.
