Join Friends of the Wichita Art Museum for a look at the behind-the-scenes-magic that brings five full-scale Broadway musicals to the Wichita stage in just 10 weeks each summer. Wayne Bryan, producing artistic director of Music Theatre Wichita, will share the story of this unique Wichita institution. Arriving in Wichita direct from a career on Broadway, Bryan has overseen MTW growth from a modest theatre to the most highly subscribed non-profit arts organization in Kansas. Combining education with professional theatrical production, Music Theatre Wichita has been internationally praised. Wayne was a 2002 recipient of the Kansas Governor’s Arts Award as an Individual Artist. With 28 years at the helm of MTW, he is a beloved Wichita personality and arts leader. Bryan will reflect on his tenure at MTW and provide a glimpse of summer 2017 musicals in store. Lunch in the S. Jim and Darla Farha Great Hall at noon. Lecture in the Wooden Lecture Hall at 1 pm.
