Curator Talk - Sargent Johnson's Invisible Woman
6-7:30pm, March 25, 2021 | Virtual Event
Join curator and University of Pennsylvania art historian Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw to explore the life and art of Sargent Johnson, a featured artist in the exhibition "African American Art in the 20th Century."
Toward the end of the Great Depression, African American artist Sargent Johnson made a significant group of semi-abstract prints while working in the studios of the Federal Art Project in San Francisco, California. This talk focuses on the themes of interracial identity and desire imbedded within them.
