Silent Sky: Live Theater Production

Sunday is a matinee, January 23, 2026 | Exploration Place

Where Live Theater Meets Immersive Astronomy.

Wichita Repertory Theater takes over the Dome with a live performance of Silent Sky, Lauren Gunderson’s moving tribute to astronomer Henrietta Leavitt. With actors performing on stage and the Dome transforming into a living night sky, this production surrounds you with the wonder, discovery and humanity at the heart of her story.

About the Story

Henrietta Leavitt arrives at Harvard eager to study the stars. Instead, she’s assigned to the “Harvard Computers” – a team of women hired to map the heavens but excluded from using the telescope. As she works quietly behind the scenes, Henrietta makes a groundbreaking discovery that becomes the key to measuring cosmic distance and, ultimately, understanding the scale of the universe.

Her determination, curiosity, and courage take center stage as the play explores the balance between ambition, family, love, and the pursuit of science.

7 pm on January 22, 23 and 24. 2 pm matinee on January 25.
