The Alzheimer's Association will be hosting local artist Kristen Phipps for Final Friday this month. Please plan to stop by to see this stunning collection. A portion of proceeds from any art sold goes to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
A little about the artist:
My work explores a controlled method of planning, found data, and contemporary photographic methods to pattern memory degenerative diseases. By emphasizing prearranged color associates, the atmosphere blurs and warps severed shapes that submerge into groves and ruts.
Harsh disruptions are combined with color and structure to shift attention throughout the dreamscapes. Focusing on repetitious shapes and nebulous colors, I make work that exposes darker undertones of the intellect and limbic system. The deteriorating of memories becomes less about myself, and more about the past and future; short and long term. I am attempting to further challenge memories with color associations and broader distortions of arrangements.
Be sure to catch all of the Final Friday magic, by riding the Q-Line trolley up and down Douglas, from College Hill to Delano!
