ABOUT US

Assistance League of Wichita is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is transforming lives and strengthening our community through philanthropic programs in Wichita. Member volunteers are dedicated to ongoing support and a long-term presence in the community through hand-on involvement an innovative philanthropic programs.

PHILANTHROPIC PROGRAMS

We have four philanthropic programs which support the Wichita community.

  • Operation School Bell provides school clothing and basic hygiene items to school children in need.
  • Scholarships provides needed financial aid to individuals wanting to attend WSU Tech and Butler County Community College.
  • Assault Survivor Kits provides basic clothing and hygiene kits to victims of sexual assault.
  • Bear Hugs provides teddy bears, totes and journals to child victims of violence

THRIFT SHOP

The Thrift Shop is our primary source of funding for our philanthropic programs.  We are proud of our reputation as one of the best boutique-style and friendliest thrift shops.  Our members work hard to make sure the merchandise is always good quality, clean, and priced fairly.

EVENTS AND NEWS

We sponsor several events throughout the year to support our philanthropic programs and to engage the community.

  • Day of Caring – In February we support a local endeavor to help those in need.
  • Action Week – In August we distribute books through our partner Hunter Health Clinic and clothing through Operation School Bell to students from USD 259.
  • OPEN Streets ICT – In September the Thrift Shop is open and supports this Douglas Design District event.
  • Gingerbread Village – In November we partner with Exploration Place for a community event that provides gingerbread house kits for all attendees.
