Art is the lifeblood of the culture in downtown Wichita as Final Friday brings it to life on the last Friday of each month. Wichita is the cultural and art mecca of the Midwest, and is a place where artists can grow their skills in all mediums.
Recognize the importance and beauty of all kinds of art as local galleries, studios, museums, restaurants and retail shops around Wichita stay open late to welcome visitors. This free event brings the community together in an appreciation of creativity and uniqueness.
Final Friday locations are across the city, including a large concentration in the downtown area where visitors can ride the free Q-Line trolley to visit more than 30 gallery showcases and venues, many of which offer free hors d'oeuvres and drinks.
Hours vary between galleries but all are open during the core hours of 7-9 p.m. Most galleries use Final Friday to unveil and debut new shows or as a closing reception. Several locations will incorporate artist demonstrations and/or live music.
Not only does this event give guests the opportunity to view creative art space, it also is an excellent time to purchase one-of-a-kind artwork directly from artists, or explore live performances like fire-breathers and live music.
