Bars in Wichita run the gamut, including upscale bars, dive bars, cigar bars, old-fashioned speakeasies, sports bars plastered with TVs, bars featuring live music and, of course, plenty of friendly, neighborhood bar and grills.
No matter the drink or the atmosphere you’re looking for, we’ve got a Wichita bar to serve you.
Wichita’s walkable downtown districts are hubs for bars and restaurants, and you’ll find the most diversity of bar types here. For live music, cigars and more than 160 varieties of martinis, head to Old Town staple Mort’s Martini and Cigar Bar. For an extensive sake menu, check out newcomer Blue Fin Sake Bar and Sushi. Catch a game and a drink at Emerson Biggins Sports Bar & Grill, Heroes Sports Bar & Grill or Pumphouse. Try one of the craft beers brewed on-site at Wichita’s original brew pub, River City Brewing Co., or check out the extensive craft beer menus at The Anchor to Public at the Brickyard.
Outside of Old Town, you’ll find more fun downtown Wichita bar destinations. Dockum is a speakeasy-style bar in the basement of the Ambassador Hotel serving craft cocktails. In Delano, Monarch has one of the region’s largest bourbon selections and knows how to use it.
In east Wichita you’ll find Club Rodeo, the city’s largest country nightclub serving nightly drink specials, regularly scheduling national acts and showcasing live bull riding on weekends. Headshots Bar & Grill is a video-game bar and also keeps board games on hand. Kirby’s Beer Store near the Wichita State University campus was once included on Playboy magazine’s list of top dive bars in the country. Bubba’s 33 serves its beer at 33 degrees and offers a garage bar and family dining section. The Hill Bar & Grill is a classic neighborhood establishment that draws drinkers and diners from far outside its College Hill zip code. Chester’s Chophouse & Wine Bar offers an upscale setting with a cozy, warm wood bar. They offer classic cocktails and have a 1,000-bottle wine cellar with 50 offerings by the glass.
Jerry’s Bar and Grill has been a neighborhood destination since 1999, offering nightly drink specials in west Wichita. Twin Peaks West Wichita serves its beer at 29 degrees (there’s an east location, too). At Remington’s Bar & Grill, you can enjoy a drink while sitting at the same bar as some of the country’s most notorious stars and infamous criminal. If you look closely, you’ll see bullet holes from when the bar was part of the infamous Brown Derby Blues Bar in Chicago.
Tin Lizard Bar & Grill serves up cold beer and hand-crafted cocktails inside the Kansas Star Casino a few miles south of Wichita. The bar has live music on the weekends and you’ll always find your game on one of their TVs.
