Wichita’s access to extreme fun is heating up this summer with the opening of its newest attraction in southwest Wichita: Splash Aqua Park. This unique water park experience brings a series of inflatable slides, runways, jumping pillows, trampolines, bouncers, swings, jumps, ladders and even stand-up paddleboards to a 27-acre lake in the Steeple Bay development at I-235 and Seneca Street.

An Intense Idea

After spending time in Australia immersed in the water skiing scene with his wife, Cole Kalkbrenner got pretty familiar with the splash park concept. With five splash parks across the Gold Coast in Australia, the popular summer destinations seemed to be just what Wichita was missing. As everything fell into place, the Kalkbrenners moved to Wichita with an idea, and Splash Aqua Park was born.

The park not only brings an exciting new concept to Wichita for locals and visitors alike, it will get people outside and active. Even if a person isn’t interested in getting in the water, there will be activities, snacks, shaded areas and more for all ages.

Rules & Regulations

All guests must be at least 5 years old, sign a waiver and go through a safety course before entering the park. Coast Guard-approved life jackets must be worn at all times and patrons are not permitted to bring their own gear. When the park opens on Memorial Day, there will be one-hour sessions beginning at 10 a.m. daily, up to about 100 people at a time. The park will close at 5 p.m. daily, but can be rented during the after hours for groups and parties. Splash Aqua Park will be open daily through Labor Day.

Each one-hour jump session will be $16.50. Guests can purchase two one-hour sessions for $27.50 each. Those two sessions must be used by the same person on the same calendar day. Sessions start every hour on the hour. The price is the same regardless of age.

Visitors are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their jump session to allow time for waiver signing and safety briefing.
