Prairie Fire Marathon

Whether you are a serious runner or a runner looking for some serious fun, Wichita’s Prairie Fire Marathon is for you! Taken over by the Wichita Sports Commission in 2010, the former “Wichita Marathon” got a new name with new opportunities for the whole family.

Enjoy the full marathon, half marathon, Mayor’s 5K Challenge, youth marathon or Fun Run/Walk. It’s a chance for everyone to join the community on a gorgeous course along the banks of the Arkansas River and around the core of the city.

For serious runners, the Prairie Fire Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier; both the half and full marathons follow a fast, flat route through the heart of Wichita. All Prairie Fire Marathons are USATF certified.

Set your sights on completing the Back 2 Back challenge to earn the medal trifecta. Just complete the half or 5k in the spring as well as the half or full marathon in the fall to become a part of this elite group.
