Automobilia is a store in downtown Wichita that sells auto memorabilia and collectibles. Owners Gary and Lorita Carpenter opened the shop in 1981 and in 1995 held a customer appreciation car show in front of the business that drew 150 cars and 250 people. It became an annual event called Automobilia Moonlight Car Show & Street Party and now attracts about 1,000 cars and more than 100,000 people.
Two miles of downtown roadways close for what is now the biggest car show in Wichita every summer. In addition to hundreds of classic cars, mods, motorcycles and other vehicles, attendees enjoy a swap meet, a model car contest, food courts and multiple bands playing throughout the night.
