Automobilia is a store in downtown Wichita that keeps a part of history alive by selling vintage vehicle collectibles and memorabilia. Owners Gary and Lorita Carpenter opened the shop in 1981. In 1995, they held a customer appreciation car show in front of the store that drew 150 cars and 250 people. Since then, it has become an annual event, attracting 1,000 cars and more than 100,000 visitors.
Now run by Wichita Car Shows, the tradition continues. Two miles of downtown Wichita close each summer for what is now the biggest car show in Wichita. In addition to hundreds of classic cars, mods, motorcycles and other vehicles, attendees can enjoy a swap-meet, multiple food courts and several bands playing at the same time.
Each year the event grows, adding up to three food courts and seven stages with continuous live music throughout the evening.
Bands come from all over Kansas and the Midwest Region to be a part of Automobilia’s live entertainment.
The merchant court is stocked with hundreds of great items. You’ll get the chance to purchase Automobilia t-shirts and other memorabilia. There are also other hand-made goods from local artisans.
The event is FREE for the public to attend.
