Soccer lovers can get a dose of a professional league with FC Wichita, a franchise that started as a small group looking to improve community interest in soccer. In 2014, the team became official and joined the National Premier Soccer League. Still, players and staff maintain the goal of promoting local soccer ventures and boosting community involvement. After a lengthy tryout period, FC Wichita signed Northwest High School alumni Nic Cramer as its first official player. The team won the 2015 NPSL South Central Conference Championship in its inaugural season and repeated as conference champions in 2017, then advanced to the second round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup playoffs. The team plays at Trinity and its season runs May to July.
