Medallion Hunt

Admirals’ Breakfast

Sponsored by: Star Lumber and Legacy Bank. Past Admirals Windwagon Smith host this traditional breakfast to celebrate Admiral Windwagon Smith XLVIII Barry Schwan. Budweiser Clydesdales, Presented by House of Schwan

The Budweiser Clydesdales continue to be an enduring symbol of the brewer’s heritage, tradition and commitment to quality, making hundreds of appearances across the country each year. The horses will make special appearances throughout the 2022 Riverfest.

Plein Air: A Painting Competition

3:30–6 p.m. | Location: at the River, north of the Douglas Bridge, on the bike path

Fresh air painting, too, that’s what Plein Air is all about for the 2022 Riverfest! Artists will celebrate the beauty of the Arkansas River and the iconic views around Wichita.

Safelite Autoglass Sundown Parade

(see page 12 for route) The parade route will offer excellent viewing of the parade entries inspired by this year’s theme, “50 at the Fest” — and the lure of cash prizes! Twilight Pops Concert featuring the Wichita Symphony Orchestra

8–9:30 p.m. | Location: Kennedy Plaza Stage at Century II

Your Wichita Symphony Orchestra performs an exciting concert full of popular favorites complete with a spectacular fireworks finish! For the finale, the orchestra will play performing Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. Bring your radio for the live concert broadcast on KEYN 103.7. Textron Aviation Opening Night Fireworks

Drone Show: 10p.m. | Location Exploration Place

Wichita’s first drone light show is coming to Exploration Place on the opening weekend of Riverfest, June 4 and 5, 2022. Known as “the fireworks of the future,” the show will provide breathtaking views of 200 synchronized drones, fully choreographed with music. The event capacity is strictly limited. Get your tickets now, and be among the first to witness a new era of world-class events for Wichita!

Presented by: Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Sponsored by: Evergy and Culinary Catering. GoodWill is ready to spice up Riverfest with the 34th annual Cajun Food Fest! Enjoy large helpings of traditional Louisiana favorites including chicken etouffee, red beans and sausage served over rice and homemade bread pudding topped with a decadent bourbon custard sauce, all prepared by Culinary Catering! Tickets are just $10 for the whole meal and available at Kennedy Plaza at the time of the event. Limited quantities are available; first come, first served. Cardboard Regatta

RAIN DATE: 11 a.m.–1 p.m. | Vessel construction starts at 11 a.m., Launch is at 12:30 p.m.

Location: Douglas Street Bridge

Build a river-worthy vessel in 90 minutes or less with cardboard, duct tape, pool noodles and a box cutter. No team size limit, but at least one team member (ages 12 or older) must ride in the vessel. Awards for fastest time, best design and most spectacular sinking. Plein Air Final Show and Sale

No studio artwork is permitted for judging. Artists are asked to paint 1-3 original paintings around Wichita for prize judging at the Exhibition and Sale on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Judge is John Oehm. Only artwork that is stamped will be permitted in the Exhibition and Sale and the authentication must be visible on the back of the artwork. Artists are required to attend the Exhibition and Sale on June 11, 2022 for the judging at 11 a.m. between 4 p.m.–5 p.m. Best of show sponsored by Wichita Arts Council.
