Medallion Hunt

Medallion Hunt Ends: Thursday, June 8

Admirals’ Breakfast

7:30-9 a.m. | Location: Hyatt Regency Wichita

Hot Air Balloons

6:30-8:30 p.m. | Launch Location: 500 block of South Wichita Street

These majestic and colorful icons of the sky will float above the festival crowds. Subject to wind and weather conditions. Brought to you by SPEEA.

Safelite Autoglass Sundown Parade

6:30-8 p.m. | Location: Downtown Wichita

The parade route will offer excellent viewing of the parade entries inspired by this year’s theme, “50 at the Fest” — and the lure of cash prizes! Grab front-row seating to watch entrants strut their creative stuff with floats, bands, flags, performers and all your favorite parade traditions. Brought to you by Safelite Autoglass, KEYN 103.7, POWER 93.5, The Buzz, KFH, and KNSS.

WEEE Entertainment Carnival

6-11 p.m. | Location: Lot D, 511 S. Water

Showcasing rides with a Ferris wheel, Tilt-A-Whirl, Viper, Kiddie Cars and Oscar - the octopus and fish ride and many more. Unlimited free admission with a Riverfest button! Tickets must be purchased for rides. Note: Riverfest food court tickets are not accepted for rides.

Textron Aviation Opening Night Fireworks

Fireworks will begin directly following the Kennedy Plaza Concert | Location: Viewing along the Arkansas River from Maple/ Waterman to 1st St.

Enjoy breathtaking colors and sounds over downtown Wichita, choreographed to a unique musical arrangement. Bring your radio and tune to KEYN 103.7 for the live simulcast.

Admirals’ Pancake Feed Presented by Dold Foods

7:30-10 a.m. | Location: 500 block of South Water

Thanks to the past admirals, we’ll be flipping up some fun while you start your day off with a piping hot breakfast of pancakes, bacon, juice and coffee. Tickets available, $5 for adults and $3 for children 2 to 12 years of age. Come enjoy some fun entertainment, mouthwatering bacon, and catch a pancake served up with a dose of humor!

Fidelity Bank River Run

7-11 a.m. | Location: 300 Block of West Waterman and 400 Block of South Water

The River Run race series includes four race events: Marriott International Wichita Customer Engagement Center 10K Race, Dold Foods Katie Partridge Memorial 5K Run/Wheelchair Race, SCHEELS Family Fun Run, and the Lane Enterprises Tot Trot exclusively for kids ages 2-7. A fun run for children ages two to seven. Competitors receive a medallion at the finish line. Registration includes a Tot Trot T-shirt and Riverfest button.

Wichita Children's Theatre Production of "Chicken Little"

11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. & 2 p.m. | Location: Mary Jane Teall Theatre at Century II 

The Sky is Falling! That’s what the rumor is-but is it true? Turkey Lurkey, Ducky Lucky and Goosey Loosey SAY it’s true-but does that make is so? Follow these characters and more as they make their way to tell the King only to find out it wasn’t the sky at all. And they learn a valuable lesson to not believe everything they hear! This musical adaptation by Kevin M. Reese is fun for the whole family!

Plein Air Painting Competition

11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Location: Douglas and Waco entrance gate to Riverfest

Fresh air painting and art competition, that’s what Plein Air is all about for the 2023 Riverfest!  Artists will celebrate the beauty of the Arkansas River and the iconic views around Wichita. Look for painters as you enjoy the festival, or register in advance to participate.

Wichita Habitat Panel Built at Riverfest

Noon to 10 p.m. | Location: Douglas and Waco

The event kicks off with volunteers donating their time and skills to build a house for a local family. The purpose of the Panel Build is to construct all the wall panels necessary to build an entire home. Once the panels are built, stop by and sign your name on a stud, paint part of a design board or sign up for future Wichita Habitat builds.

Downtown Get Down

3-9 p.m. | Location: Douglas between Waco and Main

Experience all the different activities and events with your neighbors. Brought to you by City of Wichita

Experience a fun-filled and family-friendly lineup of activities both new and old with your Wichita neighbors when we shut down Douglas Street between Waco and Main to party all day. Check out the Admirals’ Button Swap and Sale, free book giveaway, celebrity egg toss, funnel cake eating contest, cornhole competition, trike races, a variety of yard games and have your portrait taken with the Admiral. Stop by the Wichita Habitat for Humanity panel build and help build a house for a local family.

Cardboard Regatta 

1:30-4 p.m. | Location: Douglas St. Bridge

Vessel construction starts at 1:30 p.m., Launch is at 3p.m. Build a river-worthy vessel in 90 minutes or less with cardboard, duct tape, pool noodles and a box cutter. No team size limit, but at least one team member (ages 12 or older) must ride in the vessel. Awards for fastest time, best design and most spectacular sinking. Linwood Sexton Charity Ice Cream Sandwich Challenge

Sponsored by Hiland Dairy. Contestants will go “sandwich to sandwich” in this race competing for $2,000 in prize money to see who can eat the most ice cream sandwiches. Each challenger will be competing on behalf of their charity organization.

Enjoy large helpings of traditional Louisiana favorites including chicken etouffee, red beans and sausage served over rice and homemade bread pudding topped with a decadent bourbon custard sauce, all prepared by ASM Global! Tickets are just $15 for the entire meal, including dessert, and available at Kennedy Plaza at the time of the event. Limited quantities are available; first come, first served. Fiesta del Rio

Fiesta del Rio is Riverfest’s daylong celebration of Wichita’s rich and vibrant Hispanic culture. The event kicks off with Hispanic themed entertainment (music, danzates, a live mariachi, and folkloric dancers) on our Food Court Stage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Afternoon activities begin at 4 p.m. with a mercadito (Hispanic market) in Century II’s Tripodal grounds, themed kids activities, live music on the main stage (headlined by Eden Muñoz), and much more! Rivalry on the River

11 a.m.-5 p.m. | Location: Hyatt Lawn

A fun and friendly competitive event between high school teams of 10 which includes seven micro competitions such as cornhole, tug of war, trivia and an art competition, among others. Schools will compete against each other in micro challenges to win prizes and bragging rights for their school.

Cardboard Regatta

RAIN DATE: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Vessel construction starts at 11 a.m., Launch is at 12:30 p.m.

Location: Douglas Street Bridge

Build a river-worthy vessel in 90 minutes or less with cardboard, duct tape, pool noodles and a box cutter. No team size limit, but at least one team member (ages 12 or older) must ride in the vessel. Awards for fastest time, best design and most spectacular sinking. Enter at WichitaRiverfest. com. $20 per team. Brought to you by Commerce Bank and KWLS 107.9 FM. This event will only happen if the first date is rained out. 

Plein Air Final Show and Sale

11 a.m.-4 p.m. | Location: Century II, Exhibition Hall

No studio artwork is permitted for judging. Artists are asked to paint one to three original paintings around Wichita for prize judging at this exhibition and sale event. Only artwork that is stamped will be permitted in the exhibition and sale, and the authentication must be visible on the back of the artwork. Participating artists are required to attend the exhibition and sale event for the judging at 11 a.m. and all artwork is to be picked up between 4-5 p.m.

Capitol Federal Fireworks Finale

Capitol Federal is proud to sponsor the 2023 Riverfest Fireworks Finale which will begin directly following the concert at approximately 10:45 p.m. Location: The fireworks will be shot from the west bank of the river between the Lewis Street Bridge and the Douglas Street Bridge. Viewing will be along the east side of the Arkansas River from Lewis/ Waterman to 1st Street Bridge. Experience this dynamic pyrotechnic performance and enjoy breathtaking colors. (Back to Top)
