Tex Consolver Golf Course

Ask anyone in Wichita which public golf course you should go to, and they’ll likely send you straight to Tex Consolver on the west side of the city. The course measures 7,361 yards, making it the longest of Wichita’s public golf courses.

  • Design: Crafted by architect Bob Dunning, the par-72 course boasts a prairie-style layout with open fairways and expansive, undulating greens. It’s an aesthetically appealing design, but also presents a fun challenge, especially with the Kansas winds!

  • Water Hazards: Six holes incorporate water features, ensuring your game stays strategic and engaging.

  • Facilities: The course has a full-service pro shop, a driving range and a state-of-the-art golf simulator, meaning you can practice year-round without worrying about the weather!

The course is named after Beal “Tex” Consolver, affectionately known as “Mr. Golf in Wichita.” His illustrious career included serving as head golf professional at several Wichita courses from 1938 to 1973

MacDonald Golf Course

MacDonald Golf Course is a historic public golf course in Wichita, Kansas. Established in 1913, it originally served as the Wichita Country Club before transitioning to a municipal course. Over the years, the course has undergone updates to its James Dalgleish design, keeping its classic charm.

  • Layout: The course is a par-72 layout stretching approximately 6,911 yards from the back tees. It features fairways lined with mature cottonwood trees.

  • Facilities: In 2019, a new driving range was added to the northwest corner of the property, offering the only public driving range on Wichita's east side. Additionally, the Steve Hatchett Youth Golf Campus, opened in 2020, is the home of First Tee Greater Wichita, aiming to get the little ones interested in golf!

Goose problem? No more! Jack the Dog was hired in 2019 to scare away the waterfowl. Since his arrival, the course is cleaner, and Jack gets paid in his favorite treats—talk about a win-win!
