Wichita's James Beard Story Begins Here
Looking for James Beard-recognized restaurants in Wichita? Wichita has earned James Beard Foundation semifinalist recognition in two consecutive years. Georges French Bistro became the city's first-ever James Beard Award semifinalist in 2025, followed by brothers Jordan and Jason Rickard of FioRito Ristorante, who were named Best Chef: Midwest semifinalists in 2026. These designations represent one of the strongest culinary distinctions earned by a metropolitan area Wichita's size and reinforce the city's reputation as an established dining destination in the Midwest.
According to the James Beard Foundation, the annual James Beard Awards recognize exceptional talent across the American culinary industry and are considered among the nation's highest culinary honors. Wichita's back-to-back semifinalist recognitions place the city alongside much larger culinary destinations while showcasing the creativity, craftsmanship and hospitality that define its Slightly Off Center dining scene.
