Wichita is constantly growing, welcoming in new hotels and restaurants, and quickly becoming the hottest travel destination in the Midwest. Below is a list of what to expect in 2019 as Wichita welcomes new business:

Open at the end of 2018

Wichita has seen several restaurants open their doors in the fourth quarter of 2018:

  • The No Bake Café – specializes in various flavors of raw cookie dough
  • Adios Nachoria – open now inside WAVE; the first nachoria in the city, specializing in unique nacho dishes
  • Pinole Blue – a new restaurant idea offering authentic blue corn tacos are gluten-free and delicious; proceeds go back to the Tarahumara Tribe
  • Huddle House – restaurant similar in concept to IHOP with all-day breakfast and dinner options
  • Electric Pizzeria – newly-opened west side restaurant with Italian food, pizza and sandwiches
  • Chick N Max – locally-owned chicken restaurant in Wichita; third location in west Wichita now open
  • Molino’s Taqueria – set up similar to Chipotle, this locally-owned restaurant is the second location in the Molino’s Mexican Cuisine brand
  • Leslie’s Coffee Co. – Delano’s newest coffee shop run by the chairwoman of the Barista Guild of America
  • Taste of Soul Southern Chicken & Waffles – Craving chicken and waffles? You can now pick some up while shopping at Towne East Mall

Coming in 2019

  • Chicken N Pickle – pickle ball courts will be ready to go before the restaurant, but the food-side should be open by mid-year
  • HomeGrown – brunch-style restaurant set to open in the complete Spaghetti Works building after renovations and development
  • Coney Island Hot Weiners – This New York-style hot dog shop will open in Delano
  • Dave & Busters – This arcade/sports bar restaurant with 121 locations around the U.S. is finally coming to Wichita in Greenwich Plaza mid-year 2019
  • Vora Restaurant European – This upscale international restaurant will open on the ground floor of Uptown Landing apartment complex sometime in January
  • Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen – The west side of Wichita will be getting this national-favorite, but an opening date has not been confirmed
  • 1985 Arcade Bar & Grill – This new arcade in Wichita should be open any day now
  • Fuzzy’s Tacos – Expected to open in early summer, this taco chain is bringing a little spice to Wichita State University’s Braeburn Square
  • Donut Whole Plus – Set to open the in the old Hurts Donut space in northeast Wichita, Donut Whole Plus will have cake donuts plus (possibly) yeast donut sandwiches and other funky treats
  • Carousel Gardens at Botanica Wichita – The major restoration project including the original carousel from Joyland is expected to open in the fall
  • Taco John’s – This taco chain is looking to break into the Wichita market after opening a Derby location in 2018
  • Andy’s Frozen Custard – a second location of this Missouri-based chain will open a second location if not a third in 2019
  • Hilton Garden Inn – a brand new hotel in downtown Wichita equipped with a rooftop pool with a glass bottom that spans 10 feet out over Douglas Avenue
  • Home2Suites by Hilton – this 118-room hotel is expected to open after the first of the year
  • Crown Plaza Goddard – This 123-room hotel equipped with an indoor water park is set to open by the end of the year
  • Greenwich Place – Several stores including Michael’s, Famous Footwear, Five Below and Duluth Trading Co. are set to open throughout 2019
