YOUR WEEKEND. PLANNED.

You don’t need a week off, a flight or months of planning to make some core family memories.

Just two nights in Wichita and a weekend full of things to do together.

FRIDAY: CHECK IN. DIVE IN.

If you arrive early, begin at Kansas Aviation Museum and discover why Wichita is the Air Capital of the World. Then grab dinner at Social Tap Drinkery before checking in at SpringHill Suites Wichita East at Plazzio.

After that, there’s only one thing left to do.

Hit the indoor pool.

SATURDAY: PLAY BIG

Start with breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe, then let the kids explore the shelves at Imagine That Toys. Once they've found something new, head to Sky Zone Wichita to jump, climb and burn off the kind of energy adults can only dream about.

Spend the afternoon playing, eating and settling a few family rivalries at Chicken N Pickle. When another appetite appears, and it will, head to Fizz Burgers and Bottles.

And because no one wants to spend a family getaway driving back and forth across town, there’s another bonus: getting around Wichita is easy.

More doing. Less “are we there yet?”

SUNDAY: WILD ENCOUNTERS AND WICHITA HISTORY

Pick up breakfast or road-trip snacks from Great Harvest Bakery & Cafe, then spend the morning meeting the animals at Sedgwick County Zoo.

Step into Wichita’s Wild West story at Old Cowtown Museum, then discover why Wichita is the Air Capital of the World at Kansas Aviation Museum if you didn't pack that in Friday.

Head back with tired kids, a full camera roll and at least one “can we come back?”

We’ll call that a successful road trip.

  • Oklahoma City: 2½ hours
  • Tulsa: 3 hours

Close enough for a weekend. Far enough to feel like a getaway.
Actual drive times will vary based on your starting point, route, traffic and road conditions.

Is Wichita a good destination for a family getaway?

Absolutely. Wichita offers wildlife encounters, interactive museums, aviation experiences, local restaurants and plenty of places where kids can climb, create and play. Many of the city’s top family attractions are also easy to reach, so families can spend less time in the car and more time having fun.

Is two nights enough time to experience Wichita?

Two nights makes a great introduction. It gives families time to experience several major attractions, try local restaurants, enjoy the hotel and still keep the trip manageable for a weekend.

Fair warning: You may leave with a list of things to do next time.

When can the winner use the prize package?
