The festivities begin with the Historic Base Ball Exhibit, opening June 7 and celebrating the 155th anniversary of baseball in Wichita. The exhibit explores the city's early baseball history, including Wichita's first organized team, which debuted in 1871. Visitors can discover how Kansas teams helped challenge social norms through integrated teams, women's teams and Native American teams, highlighting how America's pastime often reflected broader changes happening across the country.

On June 14, National Flag Day takes center stage during Curator's Corner: National Flag Day. The special America250 program examines the history of flags in Kansas and Wichita, from the 34-star flag that flew when Kansas entered the Union to Wichita's distinctive city flag. Joined by a local vexillologist, Cowtown's curator will explore how these banners tell the story of our state's growth, civic pride and place within the American narrative.

Cowtown's signature Celebrate America event on July 4 brings history to life through immersive experiences across the museum grounds. Guests can enjoy vintage base ball games played by 19th-century rules, wagon rides, gunfight reenactments, sack races, horseshoes, melodramas and other old-fashioned activities that recreate how Americans celebrated Independence Day more than a century ago.
