Swanson Park

Swanson Park is 93 acres and has been designated a Wichita Wild Habitat area. It was developed using Land and Water Conservation Funds that were provided by the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks and the National Park Service.

Explore the paved 1.33-mile nature trail, but leave your micycles, motorcycles, skateboards, and blades (skating) at home. Dogs are welcome and must be on leashes at all times. Find the paved parking lot with 32 stalls off Maize Road.

The park is named after Simon Peter Swanson (1886-1974), who was known as a conservationist. His father, Nels, homesteaded on 160 acres of land in 1874 - part of which becoming Swanson Park.
