Sunflower Summer Program

May 26 - August 13, 2023

An unforgettable and affordable summer getaway awaits you in Wichita, the Heart of the Country – where you can find 15 FREE attractions to explore all summer!

Many of Wichita’s most popular attractions, like the Sedgwick County Zoo and Exploration Place, are participating in the 2023 Kansas State Department of Education Sunflower Summer Program, which allows all PreK-12 grade Kansas students – and up to two adults – free admission from May 26 - August 13.

Those wishing to participate can download the Sunflower Summer Program app to their mobile device to start exploring many of Wichita's exciting attractions and museums at no cost! Kansas students and their parents are given one free visit per attraction for the summer. Tickets to each attraction are accessible until participants visit, and their Sunflower Summer "Passport" is stamped within the app.

While you're taking advantage of free admission to these destinations, be sure to check out other free and affordable activities like the "Ring of Fire" at the Keeper of the Plains, lit nightly for 15 minutes (subject to high winds) at 9 p.m. sharp. Be sure to explore Wichita's walkable downtown to take in public art, including Keepers on the Parade, bronze sculptures and variety of murals.

Be sure to book a hotel room and make a weekend or staycation out of the experience.

Eligible participants include Kansas students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade who attend public, private and faith-based schools, as well as those who are home-schooled. Up to two adults may also accompany each student to participate in this program.

*Restrictions may apply. See Sunflower Program app for details.
