Visit Wichita has announced the addition of Spencer Olmstead as Sports Coordinator on its sports team. He joins Josh Howell, vice president of sports development; Jessica Viramontez, senior sports sales manager; Kyle Baldwin, sports events manager and Chris Spall, sports sales manager, in positioning Wichita as a premier Midwest sports destination.

“Sporting events play a vital role in our community, bringing visitors to Wichita and generating local economic impact,” said Josh Howell, vice president of sports development at Visit Wichita. “We are thrilled to welcome Spencer to our team. His enthusiasm for both sports and Wichita will be a tremendous asset as we continue to attract new and transformational events to the city.”

In his new role, Olmstead will support efforts to sell Wichita to sports planners and rights holders nationwide and assist the team’s sports event manager in event operations. His responsibilities include providing administrative and project coordination for the sports team, assisting with events hosted in Wichita, attracting and coordinating volunteers and promoting the city as an ideal destination for tournaments, conventions and sports events of all sizes.

“I’m most looking forward to helping Wichita grow as a destination city by attracting more sports events here,” said Olmstead. “Having grown up playing and watching sports in Wichita, the chance to contribute to the city’s sports community is meaningful and exciting.”

Olmstead earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Wichita State University. Prior to joining Visit Wichita, he worked in various roles at Bombardier and spent this past summer as a Baseball Operations Associate for the National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series. In that role, he oversaw press box operations, coordinated with teams and media, managed social media updates, tracked player statistics, recruited affiliate teams and helped lead the championship night to one of its most successful in recent history.

A former college athlete, Olmstead brings multiple years of operations experience and strong connections with Wichita’s sports and entertainment community.

“I’m eager to apply my skills and relationships to support Visit Wichita’s mission,” Olmstead added. “It’s an exciting opportunity to network with sports professionals from Wichita and beyond, and to help showcase the city as a thriving hub for sporting events.”
