Visit Wichita’s current Director of Partnership, Susan Cohrs, is retiring this month, paving the way for the organization to welcome a new Director of Partnership Development, Shannon Uhrig. In this role, he will be responsible for new partner recruitment, as well as engagement and retention of current partners.
“We are grateful for Susan’s impactful contributions and relationships she crafted during her time with Visit Wichita and we are thrilled to welcome Shannon to our organization as the Director of Partnership Development,” said Susie Santo, President and CEO of Visit Wichita.
Before joining the Visit Wichita team, Shannon was the Director of Sales for the Homewood Suites by Hilton at the Waterfront. His job responsibilities included maintaining and promoting a team environment, driving customer loyalty by delivering top-tier customer service, providing pricing and guidance recommendations to sales staff and ensuring all aspects of solicitation, closing and customer communications are complete and documented.
“I am looking forward to my new role,” said Shannon. “I plan to continue to focus on the individual needs of our partners allowing us to create client specific solutions and adding value to their partnership with Visit Wichita. I am excited to provide an enhanced experience for our tourists, local residents and organizational members.”
Shannon graduated with his bachelor’s degree in communications from Wichita State University, and has more than 25 years of experience in the local hospitality market. His experience will undoubtedly bring a new perspective that will enhance the organization.
“With his decades of customer service, hospitality and tourism experience – specifically in the Wichita market – we are excited to put Shannon’s expertise to work, shining a light on the many ways Wichita is a must-experience destination in the Midwest,” said Santo.
