You know those moments you immediately want to tell someone about? This is that list. A mix of only-in-Wichita finds, local legends and a few things you didn’t see coming, but won’t forget anytime soon.
Nifty Nut House
Grab fresh-roasted nuts, ‘old school’ candy and a bag of goodies you didn’t know you needed.
The Original Pizza Hut Museum
Step inside the building where Pizza Hut® began. And yes, it smells like nostalgia.

Sedgwick County Zoo
At this USA Today 10Best zoo, find wide-open habitats, immersive exhibits and four baby African elephants, who are all turning one this year.
The Spice Merchant
Tea lovers, coffee drinkers and spice collectors all find common ground here. Come for the blends, stay for the smells.
Kayak to the Keeper
Rent a kayak from Boats & Bikes (by reservation only) for a water-level view of the city’s most iconic landmark, the Keeper of the Plains. Then, come back for the “Ring of Fire.”
This nightly, glowing fire pot display at the Keeper of the Plains Plaza honors Native American culture.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Allen House
Architecture fans, this one’s for you. Completed in 1918, this Prairie-style home is one of Wright’s final designs and features one of the most complete collections of his original furniture still in place.
Fun fact: Frank Lloyd Wright personally designed the home’s furniture and lighting, not just the structure itself.
NuWay Burgers
Home of the crumbly burger since 1930. Once you try it, you’ll understand the obsession.
Museum of World Treasures
It’s a little bit of everything – from one of the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossils to mummies – and somehow it all works.
Fun fact: Houses one of the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossils ever discovered.

Hatman Jack’s
The country’s third-largest hat shop combines one-of-a-kind finds with plenty of craftmanship and personality.
Kansas Aviation Museum
Wichita’s Air Capital roots take flight here. Art deco fans will also swoon.
And because we can’t narrow the list to 10, here’s a few more.

Cocoa Dolce Chocolates
Luxury chocolate done right: handcrafted truffles, macarons, fresh pastries, specialty coffees plus thoughtful wine pairings.
Double-A baseball with a riverfront view, and a menu that’s just as entertaining. From a cinnamon roll-wrapped hot dog served on chili (yes, really) to made-to-order Philly cheesesteaks and creative concessions, it’s the kind of ballpark where you come for the game and stay for what’s on your plate.
Old Mill Tasty Shop
A downtown classic that hasn’t changed much since 1932 – and that’s the point. Old-school soda jerks, chicken salad sandwiches, carrot cake and blue-plate specials that you’ll be talking about well after you leave. Some things just stick.
